About Us

The allotment site is leased to us by Lancaster City Council and is looked after by the  Dorrington Road Allotment Association. All plotholders are members of the association. The association is managed by a committee of volunteers who are responsible for representing the interests of plotholders, promoting biodiversity and amenities and maintaining the site in good order.

Current committee members are:

  • ------ (Chair)
  • Hilary Smith (Membership Officer)
  • Stephen Tribbick (Treasurer/Secretary),
  • Nick Brooks-Sykes (Communications Officer)
  • Mahmoud Boyoni (Maintenance Officer)

Any plotholder, as a member of the association, is eligible to serve on the committee. We welcome expressions of interest at any time- if there is a vacancy you can be co-opted onto the committee.  Nominations for any role on the committee takes place at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). They must be made by email to the secretary at least seven clear days before the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The AGM is usually held in the last week of February. The secretary can be contacted by email: dorringtonallotments@gmail.com.

There is a working group of volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the site and its diversity. They meet regularly and are always keen for new volunteers. If you are interested in joining them please email:dorringtonallotments@gmail.com in the first instance.

The association is a member of the National Allotment Society (NAS) - the leading national organisation upholding the interests and rights of the allotment community across the UK. They work with government at national and local levels, other organisations and landlords to provide, promote and preserve allotments for all. They offer support, guidance and advice to allotment associations and those with an interest in allotment gardening.
